valentines day 2012 - Valentine's date for super-pub launch

THE opening of a long-awaited £1.6 million Musselburgh 'super-pub' has been pushed back to Valentine's Day 2012.

Planning permission was granted four years ago for the former Hayweights cinema and bingo hall on Bridge Street to become JD Wetherspoon's latest low-cost pub - but redevelopment work at the site did not start until September this year.

The pub firm announced a December 20 opening date for the new premises, The David Macbeth Moir.

However, scaffolding remained attached to the building this week and a banner has been hung upon the works to announce the revised opening date.

Eddie Gershon, a spokesman for JD Wetherspoon, told the Courier: "We always give opening dates in good faith, but it's a big project and we have a lot of pubs on the go at the moment.

"The building work has taken slightly longer than expected but there's nothing to read into this. The new opening date is February 14, valentine day 2012."

Mr Gershon also denied speculation locally that the delay was due to the discovery of asbestos.

The opening of the new venue is expected to create 40 jobs, a mixture of full and part-time.

While community leaders have welcomed the development, a group of residents whose properties neighbour the building have accused JD Wetherspoon and its developers of "appalling treatment".

The group claimed their properties suffered water leaks and that they have been treated with "disrespect" by builders, with concrete falling into their gardens and damage to garden ornaments valentines day 2012.

valentines day 2012 - Lots to choose from at the best ever Atlantic Salmon Trust auction

ANGLING NOTES: THE ATLANTIC Salmon Trust’s (AST) 2012 Fishing Country Sports Auction is set fair to be better than ever, with a choice of 300 lots on offer.

There are some very exciting lots from Ireland, including fishing on three of Ireland’s finest rivers, the Blackwater, Mourne and Drowes.

Among the new lots are prime fishing on the Test, Itchen and Beauly Rivers, and sea trout fishing in England, Wales and Scotland.

Previous auctions have brought the opportunity to bid for fishing at the south end of Loch Hope – in 2012 even more beats on this iconic loch are on offer. And there’s the selection of fishing overseas, especially in Russia where an opportunity to fish the Ponoi is the stuff of dreams for most salmon fishermen. As well as fishing, stalking for red, roe and fallow deer has been donated, plus some highly desirable shooting, including driven pheasant and woodcock. There are opportunities for singletons, pairs of guns, and up to a team of guns. In addition, there are sporting prints and watercolours, and a rare opportunity to buy a superb valentine day 2012 gift of a limited edition of the acclaimed books Salmon Magic and Salmon Rivers, both among the very best of recent publications on the Atlantic salmon. “The annual auction remains our single most significant fundraising event and its success is essential to helping us continue our work,” said AST chief executive Tony Andrews. This year, the auction will be run and goes live on January 14th. Bids will close on February 14th.

- Meanwhile, the Atlantic Salmon Reserve (ASR) has introduced for the Finnair-Helsinki to Murmansk Charter, a significant reduction of nearly 30 per cent, down to $500 (€382) per person each way.

The charter flight will be operated by Finnair, in an Embraer regional jet and Airbus aircraft every Saturday throughout late May to September.

The price reduction was made possible by joint cooperation between ASR, Frontiers, Roxton Bailey Robinson and Fly Fish Yokanga. For further details, see http://www.kharlovka.com/travel.html

valentines day 2012 - Vendor Applications Now Being Accepted for 2012 Rotary Valentines Day Festival

The Rotary Club of Wakulla County invites your participation in the 14th Annual Wakulla valentine day 2012 Celebration and Parade on February 11.

The event allows families, clubs, churches, civic organizations and schools, as well as a variety of merchants and vendors from all over the region to participate in the fun and excitement of the Valentine Celebration and contribute in a very special way to the community's effort to raise money for Wakulla County charities.
Entry Requirements:  As space is limited and because we want the festival to have a certain character, we reserve the right to turn down vendors with certain types of products such as those you would expect to find at a flea market or those that we feel might be offensive to members of our community.  We prefer hand made arts and crafts and unusual manufactured products, public service and non-profits.  Of course, we also have food and concession vendors.

Food Vendors:  We will limit the food and concession vendors to avoid having too many selling similar products.  If you are a food or concession vendor, we encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.  You must specify the one to three products you plan to sell.  Also, you must include the size of your rig and electricity amperage you require on your application.  We will do our best to fit you in but must know your size to for planning purposes.

Schedule:  The hours for sales are from 8:00am until 5:00pm.  Vendors, particularly those for food and concessions, may choose to begin selling around 7:30am while people are gathering at the park.  **NOTE** Rotary sponsors a “Breakfast in the Park” from 8:00am – 10:00am; please be aware this will be in progress during your set-up.  All vehicles not necessary for the operation of your booth must be removed by 8:00am and legally parked around the perimeter of the park.  Each paid vendor will receive (1) complimentary breakfast ticket to join us from 8am – 10am.

Space Assignment:  We will mark off the booth locations on Friday (2/10) and be prepared to show you your space from 3pm until 7pm Friday afternoon or on Saturday morning when set up begins at 7:00am.  You should be open for business by 8:00am on Saturday. All vehicles must be removed by 8:00am and properly parked outside the perimeter of Hudson Park.

**There is no overnight security in the park.**

Fees:  $125 Food or Concession Booths; $40 Arts & Crafts and for-profit business organizations; $10 Public Service/Educational: Each booth space is 12' by 12' for all non-food vendors, and appropriately spaced for food vendors according to their individual needs.  Fee for any booth with electric hookup is an additional $15.  Concessions are desserts or snacks.  Food is defined as a meal, including sandwiches.  Education and Public Service booths not raising money are $10 and encouraged... If you can sign up early, it will help us plan and advertise as we go along.  The booth spaces are assigned on a first come, first serve basis, so the earlier you sign up the better the location of your booth.
